AZPPG, where
Arizona paramotor
pilots hang out.

AZPPG Photo Album

The exhilaration of flying is too keen, the pleasure too great, for it to be neglected as a sport.

— Orville Wright

The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn't it be? -- it is the same the angels breathe.

— Mark Twain, 'Roughing It'’ Chapter XXII, 1886.

Never stop being a kid. Never stop feeling and seeing and being excited with great things like air and engines and sounds of sunlight within you. Wear your little mask if you must to protect you from the world but if you let that kid disappear you are grown up and you are dead.

— Richard Bach, 'Nothing by Chance,' 1963.

The most beautiful dream that has haunted the heart of man since Icarus is today reality.

— Louis Bleriot

The ABQ Balloon Fiesta Fly-In was amazing fun. It was nice to see such a great turn-out of folks from Arizona and to catch up with lots of folks I have seen at other flyins or communicated on the internet. Jerry and Michelle organized a first class event. Kudos to them on such a great event.

    Country Fliers
    Country Fliers
Our thrust tester was a hit with over 30 people using it. I want to thank Shaddey Tod, Smokin' Bill, Mike T, Dennis, and Bill Rowe for helping out to make the thrust competitions a success. Also, the AZPPG Tee's sold fairly well, but there are still many left.

    Search & Rescue
By Mo Sheldon, on October 6, 2003
When I returned on Monday, I was called by the Pima Search and Rescue team to come out to Superior to search for a two missing people.

I launched in extremely light and variable winds at 10:30am off the side of a road with the escort of a police officer. I flew for about an hour until the thermals were too much for me. Unfortunately, I did not find the people or their vehicle, but I covered an enormous amount of ground in a short time. Also, this was my first time out doing search and rescue work and I think I made a very good impression. Hopefully I will be able to help out again.

    Stellar Airpark Party
By Mo Sheldon, on September 28, 2003
I got there about 10 am. Unfortunately it was already hot and the winds were zero and switchy. I ended up launching downwind with an older, smaller wing and had to run my behind off. I'm sure it didn't look pretty. And it was getting thermally. I only flew for about 10 minutes and landed.

The event was a lot of fun, with some really positive feedback from many of the people. But we got the usual politics about 'we're not real aircraft' from a few folks who claimed to be on the board of directors. Luckily, we had overwhelming support from the attendees, many of whom live at the airpark. Anyhow, that's normal stuff to contend with at ANY airport.

I ended up staying the entire day, and did two tandem flights in the late afternoon: one to the wife of the FBO and another to the wife of a airshow jet pilot (see http://www.mikelarkinairshows.com/ for photos of the plane). They both loved the flights. In fact, I've got a reincheck to fly in the jet at Copperstate in a few weeks!

I ended up going home at 9 pm after a very full day. I had a great time hanging out with a bunch of folks that live to fly.

Next time you get gas at Stellar, stop by and say hi to Kevin Bowman, the FBO and owner of Stellar Performance Aviation.

    Equipment Review
    Lightman Strobe
Our most popular strobe, with good reason. An excellent safety feature that can be used at all times.
    Lightman Strobe
    Lightman Strobe
Very compact and bright. These portable strobes have a visible range of beyond 3 miles in the dark. Come standard with a clear lens, storage bag and mounting hardware. Flashes several times a second. Included alkaline batteries last 3 to 5 hours. $27 or $30 with the recommended AnyWhere bolt system.

Makes a great gift! Order yours today!
