Mo and I flew at Luckett field tonight. Tod, Mike W. and Mike C. were also there. Mike C. brought his Paraborne Direct Drive motor and Apco Astro glider, as well. Mike let me hook in to the Astro and show him one kiting method I like for the conditions we had tonight. He kited his glider for almost an hour and was really getting the hang of it. Tod and Mike W. helped. Congratulations to Tod who, we just found out, purchased a motor and glider from Bruce Brown just recently. I look forward to flying with Tod in the near future.
Winds were NE 6 to 12 on the surface, parked a few hundred feed up. Lots of bumps near the surface due to the gradient. I flew from 5pm to 6pm almost on the dot. Mo probably was in the air by 5:30 or so -- he was in the air within minutes of arriving. We stayed around the field due to impenetrable head wind everywhere except just off the deck. The last 30 minutes I practiced a few more touch-and-goes, which are a lot of fun. Very enjoyable from the air watching a local agrarian plow his huge field, Mike C. kite his glider, and Mo make holes in sky. We were finally driven down by the dark. I look forward to next weekend.

David, Nice write-up. Yes that was a lot of fun. Sorry for the late arrival. I had difficulty getting my PPG together after I balanced the props the night before. I noticed it ran with a lot less vibration.
The Luckett site is quite suited for PPG, being so flat and open, with miles of farmland in every direction. But I still am concerned about that airport a few miles to the North, especially since I have seen fast, military planes flying from it on occasion. In addition, I noticed from the air that the Luckett site is in an almost direct line to the runway of that airport. This might be a safety concern to consider. I do admit, it looked really cool from the air to see those monster planes parked on the tarmack off in the distance.
